What tastes better than Sautéed Soft-shell crabs? IPA Beer-Battered Sautéed Soft-shell Crabs of course! Tonight’s menu presents cleaned & dressed Soft-Shell Crabs in a Beer-Battered Sauté Recipe.

It takes a true crab lover to dine on the entire crab as an entrée or sandwich! Our chefs gathered around and brainstormed a recipe that would maintain the soft-shell crab’s authentic taste, but for a discriminate diner who wants to let loose and enjoy true Chesapeake Bay eating! Dicing vegetables, mixing batters and trying various IPA beer amounts, our chefs quickly realized that beer-battered means adding a malty & hoppy taste to the salty-sweet crab. What creates a true beer-battered dish? Look for aesthetics. Dice those tomatoes, mince the onions, chop the chives and let all flavors mix and fill the kitchen with a zesty flare. Generously coat the soft-shells with the authentic JO soft-shell batter. Let yourself enjoy creating a delicious crust and then douse it with beer because it just makes sense. Beer it up folks!

Seriously, follow these easy steps for preparing your own dish. 1) Whisk two organic eggs with whole milk and set aside. Prepare the garlic-vegetable mix: Dice four plum tomatoes & a sweet onion. Chop three garlic cloves and parsley. Combine all seasonings/vegetables together and set aside. 2) Dip soft shells in the egg/milk mixture and then coat with Soft-Crab Batter from J.O., a Baltimore MD brand. Repeat the dipping and coating for a thicker breading. 3) Carefully place the crabs in a hot skillet with extra virgin olive oil. Add the seasonings/vegetable mix. Sauté for 3 minutes per side creating a golden-brown crust. Carefully sauté vegetable/seasoning mix and set on top of the crabs. This combined cooking adds flavor to the soft-shells. 4) Pour your favorite beer on each crab to give the them a hoppy flavor that complements the succulent-salty taste. Cook for another 3 minutes per side. 5) Plate and savor this unique dish for the true crab lover!

Don’t worry. All ages can enjoy this cuisine since the alcohol cooks out from the dish. Hard-shell or soft-shell, Maryland Blue Crabs add variety to your palate. Get the skillet flaming over the grill. Smell the sautéing fresh vegetables and spices pinched into the pan with authority and excitement. A true chef takes regional dishes and personalizes them with spices. Let your inner chef shine over the Bay with this recipe!
